This June, was a year since I last saw Rik's face, held his hand, and said goodbye. Every first birthday, first day of school, first Christmas, first tooth lost, for our girls, without their Dad, I have lived through the darkest and hardest days, where I thought I would break, days where I feel strong and days where I feel weak.St Luke’s have really helped us to get through those tough days by creating a lasting memory with Rik, the girls still talk about this with fondness. The nurses created a little garden tea party for the girls when they visited. They completely spoilt them with yummy treats and ice lollies, sandpit, sticker books and spending time with them painting suncatchers. Rik was in great spirits and said it was the best day he had had in a month. Although it was a little thing for St Luke’s, it meant the absolute world to all of us.
